A Letter to the New LEMS Patient

LEMS Ambassadors are compensated by Catalyst Pharmaceuticals, Inc. for the time they spend
discussing their experiences with LEMS.

There are few experiences more challenging and isolating than being diagnosed with a rare
disease like Lambert-Eaton myasthenic syndrome (LEMS). It is difficult having to adjust to life as a
new LEMS patient and the reality a LEMS diagnosis may impose, but there is light at the end of
the tunnel waiting for you. Just take it from one of our LEMS Ambassadors, whose experience
might be similar to yours and has some wisdom to share.

Tescha, LEMS Ambassador

Dear Warrior,

These walls and hurdles caused by your diagnosis may seem unbearable, or even just too
challenging. But I say to you, dear warrior—you can, you will conquer all obstacles! You are brave,
strong, relentless, and courageous! You can overcome them. You will. Now watch yourself
conquer all obstacles. You are not alone in this fight—with the daily, weekly, and monthly
struggles, both emotionally and physically—because I too have LEMS. Yes, life may seem different
now but change your lens to see the beauty that has also been given to you. Learn how to stop,
be patient, and appreciate the simple beauty that life brings—the sound of ocean waves, birds
singing, or children laughing. LEMS isn’t the end of all, but a beginning of a new chapter filled
with love, support, new friendships, and finding joy in simplicity.

Never settle for less or accept limitations. You can always find modifications and new ways to
appreciate your hobbies and activities despite this disease. A warrior is a fighter, and you too will
conquer this hurdle. Pride isn’t always courageous—but what is courageous is rising above
challenges.

So go rise above!

Your fellow Warrior,

Tescha
